Let's put aside the logical inconsistency.... 'rethink' and 'anti-intellectual' in the same sentence.....of that 'need' for a moment.
The 'Faustian bargain' the GOP made with it's 'Southern Strategy' was simply the first move along the GOP anti-intellectual road to a 'lost soul'.
God, guns and gays; flag, fags and fetuses, misogynistic and xenophobic 'cultural wars' soon enough were strewn along that, yes, deplorable road.
Now the devil is seeking his due. Nixon, Dubya and Trump were the 'bargain'. Even the devil himself will be impressed with just how many badly tarnished souls he can add to his collection.
