Aldershot is a relatively new company that was just refinanced with a new property acquisition in 2016.
Aldershot is earning up to a 75% interest from Transition Metals TSX.V:XTM in the Gowganda Gold Project, approximately 75 kilometres southwest of Kirkland Lake Ontario.
The project hosts the Haultain Gold discovery, a zone of widespread alteration and gold mineralization associated with a suite of syenitic intrusions and structures discovered by Transition in 2010.
The mineralization and geologic framework bears many similarities to other significant gold deposits exploited elsewhere throughout the prolific Abitibi Greenstone Belt, which to date over a 100 year period has yielded over 170 million ounces of gold.
Transition Metals is providing the technical expertise for the exploration and advancement of the project. This Haultain discovery looks very interesting with an excellent location in the Abitibi belt.
Drill results the 1st of March yielded 3.4 metres of 1.37 g/t gold and the 2nd hole 9.1 metres of 1.24 g/t.
They reported the rest of the drill results April 5th and the best intersect was 11.52 metres grading 1.63 g/t gold, including 6.21 g/t over 1.08 metres and 5.41 g/t over 1.03 metres.
Aldershot is planning a follow drill program to probe deeper and along strike of a shear zone, these comments from the last news release sum up the prospects.
"The recent drill program has indicated there is a gold system on the Gowganda gold project that merits additional exploration. The work from the previous program is telling us to go deeper and drill along strike along a NW shear corridor around the Annie's Ladder zone," stated Greg Collins, PGeo, chief operating officer of Transition Metals Corp., who is the supervising geologist overseeing the exploration on the property on behalf of Aldershot.
