Pastor Dr. Robert Jeffress of the First Baptist Church of Dallas said President Trump's latest executive order ends a "60-year-old governmental war" on religious liberty.
Jeffress said the document is another reason the former New York businessman is the "most faith-friendly president in U.S. history."
He said that a recent poll reportedly showed Trump with 76 percent strong support among Evangelical Christians and projected that number will continue to rise.
"Instead of assaulting religious liberty, he's going to protect it," Jeffress said.
Trump will make his first overseas trip as commander-in-chief soon, visiting Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Holy See.
Jeffress said that if we judge presidents' priorities by their first foreign trips, Trump's itinerary is another example of his strong support for people of faith.
