Non-Profit buildOn’s Annual Boston Dinner to Celebrate Service and Youth

Boston, MA, May 03, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 2017 buildOn Boston Dinner is a celebration of solidarity, service and youth. This inspiring evening unites over 200 corporate executives, young professionals and community leaders to recognize the work of buildOn’s incredible youth here in Boston, their dedication to community, and the work buildOn does globally. The dinner will take place tomorrow at 6:00pm on May 4 th at The Mandarin Oriental.

This year, buildOn is celebrating General Electric (GE), Jones Day, John Hancock, and Ernst & Young (EY) for their collaboration with youth locally and their unwavering support. GE participated in both buildOn’s 36 Hour and Partnership Program this year in Boston. Jeff Bornstein, Chief Financial Officer of GE, will be speaking at the event to discuss GE’s immersive 36 hour experience in Boston.

buildOn’s 36 Hours program is a personal and immersive experience that allows business and community leaders to travel to a buildOn neighborhood and “walk in the shoes” of our U.S. students through a student-led immersion experience.

buildOn’s Partnership Program is a unique and immersive service program that allows companies to partner with buildOn students to share skills, offer mentorship and serve their communities in solidarity. Over the course of six months, companies and local Boston youth work together in sessions aimed at helping students gain critical tools for their future while addressing the needs of the Boston community.

Employees from the Boston offices of Jones Day and EY will participate in the Partnership Program during the 2017-2018 school year with students from the Jeremiah E. Burke High School and the Community Academy of Science and Health, both located in Dorchester.
