I'm really surprised that you cling to that old chestnut about the Dems and Jim Crow. No one disputes that they were that Party.
That all changed with LBJ and the civil rights acts. And then with the GOP 'Southern Strategy' that was only apologized for by the chairman of the RNC about 10 years ago.
LBJ allegedly told a southern Dem Senator that the party had lost the South for a generation with the passage of the civil rights bill. He was too optimistic!
And you've got to be kidding about the GOP 'straightening out the tyranny'. They are nothing if not 'hospitable' to the authoritarian strain in American life.
And yeah, one could move from one to another of the 3 States you mentioned and with the proper skills sets earn a pretty good living.
Plus, those three States pretty much match if not exceed the total GDP of your 'states rights' economic powerhouses and protectors of individual liberties.
