The recognition is a result of her organizational leadership, achievements and commitment to patient safety that has driven patient safety nationwide.

Ms. Marhalik-Helms has spent the majority of her professional career creating and implementing initiatives that reflect her longstanding commitment to patient safety and quality improvement. In her role as NAPA’s senior director of Quality Improvement, she is responsible for the strategic oversight of the organization’s patient safety and quality program at the 200+ clinical sites where anesthesia and managed care services are provided. This translates into gathering critical patient safety data on over one million patient interactions each year.
In addition, Ms. Marhalik-Helms is heavily involved in NAPA’s customer service program, NAPA Service Experience, where she adds significant value in further enhancing the patient experience. In 2016, Ms. Marhalik-Helms was nominated as the vice chair for Anesthesia Business Group (ABG) Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR). She also serves on the ABG Patient Safety Organization’s Quality Committee and the American Society of Anesthesiologist’s Anesthesia Quality Institute’s Patient Quality Improvement Council.
The 2017 edition of Becker’s “50 Experts Leading the Field of Patient Safety” list features clinicians, advocates and legislators who work tirelessly to eliminate medical errors and improve safety in the industry.
