Dear Stockhouse Member,
Pressure is mounting internationally to bring a WTO complaint against Canada's dairy industry. The gist of the complaint is that the current regulatory structure in Canada effectively allows the pricing of milk at below-cost prices. In turn, this is alleged to provide an unfair advantage for Canadian producers of dairy products which use this subsidized(?) milk.
Complaints against Canadian dairy farmers are led by the United States. When it comes to dumping agricultural products at below-cost, no one has more expertise than the U.S. -- the world's #1 offender in dumping subsidized agricultural products all over the world.
Indeed, the large influx of millions of (often undocumented) Mexican migrants into the U.S. is a direct consequence of American agricultural subsidies. It was dumping vast amounts of subsidized agricultural goods into Mexico which bankrupted millions of Mexican farmers. What did those bankrupted farmers do? They migrated to the jurisdiction which produced all of those subsidized agricultural products.
