In my haste to reply, I did not elaborate why....

When you buy a stock -shares are delivered 3 days later. When you sell that same stock prior to receipt of those shares, you actually create a short positions for a day or two. You are essentially selling shares you do not have
More often than not the shares to borrow for cover by a broker for delivery is handled internally, however they may not have full inventory which creates the situation where they need to borrow shares from another broker to fill delivery until receipt of the originally purchased shares
There really is no short selling in a penny market. Anyone telling you otherwise is playing you for a fool.... there are no "shorties" that we are going to get - it's a mythical face placed on something people do not understand.
Honestly - if I were a mod - any mention of shorts would be removed as it just plays on the ignorance of others.
