It really is what I'm proposing. They can sell what they've developed through Medmar and others almost immediately. In going into clinical trials they could find that modifying the formulation can improve the product, and they can do so, but the key is, they'll have much of the funds needed to do this because of sales of the original product.
It's my belief that the sublingual tablet for MM could be very different from what they put on the market. In fact, I suspect that they'll market sublingual tablets with a variety of different compositions for a variety of effects in time. I believe the majority of these will not have undergone more than perhaps safety trials, if that, but they'll contain the same ingredients that are effective from smoking marijuana, or using it in other ways.
My point is that the 10-K is really not that clear about this being the strategy, but time will prove that it is.
Many people today still insist on taking only Bayer Aspirin, and I believe that truthfully Bayer has continued to improve on the product that's now been around for over 150 years. I take the Costco version that's probably only 95% as effective. My point is that once Medmar is marketing the cream, OWCP may continue to improve it, and they might pass the improvement on to Medmar, or keep it themselves and eventually have it approved as a drug. They'll be able to do that because of the earnings they'll receive from Medmar.
Once you have a patent on a product, nothing prevents you from improving on it, and creating a new product with additional patent protection. I believe that big Pharma spends far more money defending patents on existing products than they do in creating new products. The key is establishing that initial patent on which others can be built upon.
