Sun Raven is correct, going to JFK is fricking nightmare, the traffice always sucks and you go through some of worst neighborhoods. LGA is a little better, but the main terminal (American Airlines) is like 3rd world.
And let's not forget all the tolls to get to these airports (Whitestone Bridge is around $8 each way) LGA parking is $35-$36/day. GW Bridge or Holland Tunnel also are parking lots.
The freeways out by Stewart are wide and in excellent shape. Can get to the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest without going through any NY city traffic.
The only thing that I would add to the cargo issue, is all passenger planes carry cargo. Most of it US Mail,but also some boxes.
