They really need to have more than two stores AND be profitable before they consider franchising. They aren't ready for franchising yet, but one more year and a couple new store openings and turning a profit will position them to franchise. You don't want to try and franchise too soon.
I like that they're considering The Westfield Santa Anita Mall. It's far enough away from the Glendale location to draw in customers from the eastern parts of L.A. County who wouldn't want to drive to Glendale. Plus, it's next to the famous Santa Anita horse race track.
I've been to this mall several times and lived five minutes away when I moved from Glendale to this area. The Santa Anita location is also easily accessed by freeways, is a few minutes from Pasadena/San Marino, among other middle/upper middle//upper income cities, and is a nice mall.
Great news all around.
Company-Owned Restaurants
One-year term strategy is to explore new opening company-owned and/or managed restaurants within the next twelve months. During 2013, we opened two new Southern California locations in Westfield Topanga Mall and Glendale Galleria. In addition, we are considering The Westfield Valencia Mall and The Westfield Santa Anita Mall as potential location.
