IMO, that's why the extreme stock split ratios (100:1, 1,000:1 etc.) were just ridiculous to even see posted. Companies would want to do hostile takeovers or try to control this company because it is breaking into a high barrier to entry industry and would be more competitor in a highly competitive industry. Low share count means its easier to takeover. They want to have a higher authorized, but not too high, to prevent it and put in place measures to prevent things from happening in the future.
