I have read about not one but two big pharmas who pursued exactly that strategy, knocking down the share price of the company they wanted to acquire.
I'm not posting the names publicly just because of libel laws -- even though truth is a defense, not willing to take that chance. But this is well documented.
Take a look at OCAT, attacked by Mako repeatedly, and finally acquired for much, much less than it had been valued at before the attacks. The strategy worked with them.
It won't work with us. OCAT had a history of poor management decisions about taking on debt. Leo Ehrlich did not make that mistake.
