Report Calls Out Just How Much Time
MSNBC's Maddow Spends on Trump & Russia

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow devoted more than half of her air time in recent weeks to the alleged connections between President Donald Trump and Russia.

The analysis, conducted by The Intercept, found that over a recent six-week period - spanning 28 hours - Maddow spent at least 53 percent of the show on the topic.

The report states:

That figure is conservative, excluding segments where Russia was discussed, but was not the overarching topic.

Maddow’s Russia coverage has dwarfed the time devoted to other top issues, including Trump’s escalating crackdown on undocumented immigrants (1.3 percent of coverage); Obamacare repeal (3.8 percent); the legal battle over Trump’s Muslim ban (5.6 percent), a surge of anti-GOP activism and town halls since Trump took office (5.8 percent), and Trump administration scandals and stumbles (11 percent).

Just last night, Maddow reported for 19 minutes (video above) on a Guardian report which stated that British spies alerted U.S. intelligence as early as late 2015 about contacts between Trump’s campaign and Russian intelligence.

Other liberal commentators, including MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell, raised a conspiracy theory after the U.S. missile strike in Syria last week.

They suggested that the events in Syria were coordinated between the U.S. and Russia as a way to distract attention from media coverage of the Trump-Russia issue.

The FBI is investigating Russia's meddling in the presidential election, including efforts to hurt Hillary Clinton and possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russians.

President Trump has repeatedly branded it "fake news."

Maddow, meanwhile, was criticized last month for hyping on Twitter that she would report on the leak of Trump's tax returns.

The report was widely seen as a "nothing-burger," since it did not reveal anything suspicious about Trump's 2005 1040 form.
