Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney said that he plans to strip the federal tax code to its basics and effectively start over.
"Go big or go home," Mulvaney, a former upstate South Carolina congressman, said on "The First 100 Days."
Mulvaney said President Trump is the first "real" businessman to inhabit the White House and that such an event should cause the nation to finally be run more like a business.
He said his office plans to strip the tax code "back to a blank piece of paper and grow it from the ground up."
He said such a move is the only way to get back to a healthy economy, after several years of anemic growth.
Mulvaney also expressed interest in consolidating numerous federal bureaucracies that he found to be redundant to one another.
