Burlingame, April 05, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MotionDSP , a leading provider of image processing and computer vision software for video, today announced the launch of Ikena® Cloud, the company’s new API for cloud-based processing of video files and live video streams.
Ikena Cloud uses MotionDSP’s suite of image processing and computer vision libraries from its flagship Ikena ISR real-time video processing application, and delivers them in a scalable, Amazon Web Services (AWS)-based service via a REST-API.
Using Amazon’s EC2 P2 Instances powered by NVIDIA GPUs , Ikena Cloud can concurrently apply more than twenty different algorithms to HD video feeds in real-time, correcting common issues such as poor signal quality, compression artifacts, shake, rolling shutter, de-interlacing, atmospheric haze, and poor lighting conditions.
“Our customers and partners want to integrate our unique video enhancement capabilities into their cloud applications,” said Sean Varah, founder and CEO of MotionDSP. “NVIDIA’s powerful GPUs have enabled MotionDSP to offer real-time processing of live feeds for the first time as a cloud service.”
Ikena Cloud offers a wide range of image processing and computer vision algorithms, available through a simple preset-based system. Users can send a video file or live video stream to Ikena Cloud, specify a preset specifying any combination of algorithms and settings, and it will return a fixed video file or live video stream back.
“NVIDIA’s GPU-accelerated video processing enables real-time video enhancements for critical smart and safe city applications,” said Deepu Talla, vice president and general manager of the Tegra business at NVIDIA. “Using NVIDIA technology, MotionDSP is helping customers extract powerful data insights from video streams at a scale previously not possible.”
Ikena Cloud can be used to improve:
- Quality of live surveillance video for smart city and border patrol applications
- Performance and accuracy of third- party algorithms such as facial and license plate recognition
- Video quality for better AI and deep learning results
MotionDSP at ISC West 2017
MotionDSP will show its video enhancement and processing capabilities using NVIDIA GPUs inside NVIDIA’s booth #20075 at ISC West in Las Vegas from April 5-7. Sean Varah will also have an in-booth theater talk on the topic of “GPU-accelerated Image Processing from the Edge to the Cloud” on April 6 from 10:30-10:45 am PT.
