Fredricksburg, VA, March 31, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Last month, on February 20 th , Director of Operations at Potomac Group, Corey Watts, was invited to fly to Newport Beach, CA in order to attend a 2-day seminar and fundraiser event hosted for the top performing managers in the country. The trip included an all-expense paid stay at The Duke Hotel in Newport Beach, as well as complementary dining and drinks.
According to Watts, the core mission of the trip was to meet-and-greet with other top managers in the nation and learn about branding for the company and its clients. The topics discussed during the meeting ranged from online branding to budgeting and hiring practices for the company.
“I’m so glad that I was invited to this trip. The knowledge that I’ve gained is just invaluable,” said Watts when asked how the trip impacted him. “As the Director of Operations, everyone looks to you to have all the answers, so it’s easy to forget that there’s always more about business to learn, but being here and listening to the HR and PR team’s presentations has opened my eyes to how much more there is that goes into our client’s business development.”
Along with Watts, Potomac Group’s own Administrative Assistant, Molly, was selected by the clients to join the team on their trip, solidifying Potomac Group’s strong presence at the corporate event.
“I was honored to be selected as representative to attend this meeting!”, exclaimed Molly when asked about the trip. “I got to present my part and I loved how interactive all of the managers were. I’m looking forward to doing this again soon!”
In addition to the seminar, Watts and the other managers were treated to complimentary food and drinks at The Classic Q pool hall. Following billiards and the meeting itself, the Potomac Group team was invited to a fundraising event held by the hosts of the meeting to benefit breast cancer research for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
The fundraiser took place on a yacht, rented by the company for the night, with dining and drinks courtesy of the event’s host. The team had their Guest of Honor, Jacque Balbas-Ruddy from the foundation’s New Port Beach chapter attend the fundraiser and she was able to share her story of battling cancer with the team.
“I’d have to say, that was my favorite part of the whole night,” said Watts. “The yacht and the dinner was amazing, but hearing Jacques’ story about her fight with breast cancer was so inspirational and I’m glad that were able to help the cause in any way we could.”
According to a letter sent to the team, after the event, from Susan G. Komen’s Orange County Affiliate’s Executive Director, Lisa Wolter, they were able to raise $4,055.00 to give to the foundation for research and local aide to those afflicted by the disease. The letter also stated that 75% of the net funds given to the organization will go straight to local men and women fighting the disease for treatment grants, educational outreach efforts, and life-saving screening services. The other 25% will be given to the foundation’s national affiliates to fund more research dedicated to the disease and its cure.
