Its All Going So Well
You’ll remember that during his campaign, Trump famously asserted that he’d be too busy working to have time to play golf. Well, turns out that since his very first week in office, things are going so smoothly, he has plenty of time for the links.
And yet no one gives him credit for running such a ship-shape administration from day one, he is free to take weekends off without worrying what’s going on back at the office.
So Flynn got caught lying about his communications with Russian operatives and was eventually fired after just 24 days in his position as national security advisor. This kind of thing happens in every administration – someone unsuited to a presidential appointment turns out to have lied by failing to check-off the Yes, I actually AM a traitor box on their application. Why should Trump be held responsible for someone else’s dishonesty?
And speaking of lying, Trump has taken a lot of flack for doing just that. Everyone lies at times, e.g. ”No, that dress doesn’t make you look fat”, “The check is in the mail”, “The previous president wire-tapped my phone” – so why the big deal over a few fibs?
Much has been made of Trump’s behaviour when dealing with our global allies. The point is: do we really need to HAVE allies? England, Mexico, Australia, France – what have they done for us lately?
Yeah, so handing Angela Merkel a bill for £300bn for money her country “owed” NATO may seem a tad unfriendly – but no one mentions that Trump generously offered to cover the tip.
Little credit has been given the Trump administration’s uncovering of things like the Bowling Green Massacre, the heretofore unknown concept that your microwave is probably spying on you, and the concept of “alternative facts” having a place in political discourse.
It seems obvious that Democrats have been suppressing this knowledge for years, and it took an honest statesman like The Donald to bring them to the forefront.
Surely we all recall Trump’s statement that he will build a wall on the Mexican border, and they will pay for it. Well, turns out that under Trump’s careful oversight of the national budget, we’ve got plenty of money to pay for it ourselves – no need to bother those lazy, job-stealing, bad hombres for a single peso. Now, that’s negotiation at its best, my friends.
It’s disheartening to see so many people poking fun at Trump’s “tweets”. What’s wrong with saying totally inane things on a regular basis? Can’t we get behind a pResident who can spew complete bullshit under the restriction of 140 characters or less? Does no one recognize the skill involved in being able to do so?
So Trump’s “Muslim ban” has been shot down – twice. If it weren’t for all those highly-paid protestors showing up at airports, no one would even have noticed how unconstitutional such a move was.
Yeah, so the TrumpScare healthcare bill didn’t pass. Just because the Republicans have wasted millions of taxpayer dollars trying to repeal Obamacare, just because the GOP has spent seven years decrying it, just because Trump ran on the fact that he would get rid of it the minute he was in office doesn’t mean it was a Big Fuckin’ Deal.
It still amazes me that Democrats are now characterizing this minor loss as an EPIC FAIL!, when the GOP has now decided that after seven years of over-the-top belly-aching, this entire concept was never worth getting their knickers in a twist to begin with.
Why can’t the Dems just let it go and move on, like Donald has vowed to do? So “healthcare that will cover everyone at a lower cost” turned out to be millions of people no longer having any coverage whatsoever, and higher costs for those still covered? Such criticism gives nit-picking a whole new meaning.
While Trump’s administration has been mired in combating alleged ties to Russia that undermined our democratic electoral process, his focus on more important things have fallen by the wayside. Were it not for the constant piling-up of evidence that his entire administration is neck-high in treason, Donald could have already implemented his “foolproof plan for defeating ISIS” by now.
Above all, what the Democrats refuse to acknowledge is that everything that has ”gone wrong” in Trump’s administration is someone else’s fault. Why is everyone refusing to recognize that the facts keep getting in the way of what would otherwise be a brilliant presidency? Why is the truth suddenly so important? Since when do we turn a blind eye to “alternative facts” when actual facts prove to be so totally inconvenient?
I think we who have derided Trump and his policies have a lot to answer for. Were it not for our pig-headed insistence that things like the Constitution and the rule of law matter, he would rightfully be hailed as the Greatest President Evah! Were it not for our penchant for pointing out lies, his administration would be lauded as being the most honest and straightforward in our history.
Were it not for our harping on the mounting evidence that he is a traitor to his country, he would be free to rely on Putin to tell him what to do without the troublesome interference of American citizens.
It’s all going so well. Why do we sore losers persist in saying otherwise?
