KitchenAid Accused of 'Everyday Sexism' Over New Pink Products for Women

KitchenAid quickly found itself at the center of some feminist outrage after introducing a line of pink products for women in an effort to raise money for breast cancer awareness.

A writer named Hazel Davis, in a since-deleted tweet, wrote "Are you actually serious, KitchenAid?" with the hashtag #everydaysexism.

Davis voiced her objection to the pink products being labeled "for women," pointing out that the information about breast cancer awareness was not as visible on the ad.

Many others pounced to quickly denigrate the company on Twitter, perhaps without realizing the charitable aim of the new "Kitchenaid for Women" products.

This color edition to support @BreastCancerHaven in the UK. Pink as a symbol of hope. It raises awareness to find a cure!

The kitchen appliance maker later apologized in a statement to Huffington Post UK:

We apologise for any offence caused. The web page has been removed.

Our intention was to highlight the ‘Cook for the Cure’ program, which gives people with a passion for cooking a way to support a meaningful cause.

The program raises funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. From pink products and celebrity chef auctions to home-based fundraising events.

Davis later tweeted that, "I fully support cancer awareness, of course. I just objected to the 'pink for women' bit. The end."
