Mom Demands Answers After Illegal Immigrant Rape Incident at MD School
A mother of a Maryland student who attends the school that was the site of an alleged rape of a 14-year-old by two illegal immigrants spoke out about the incident on "The First 100 Days".
Kimberly Allman said her son attends Rockville High School in the Washington suburb of Rockville, Md., and said she demands to know how such a tragic crime could happen there.
The rape of a 14-year-old girl last week in a boys’ bathroom of a Maryland high school, for which two immigrants have been charged, has fueled opposition to officials making the state a sanctuary for illegal immigrants.
One suspect in last Thursday’s attack is 17; the other is 18. Both were enrolled as freshman because of their weak English language skills. The two suspects, who were enrolled in Rockville’s Montgomery High School, are from Central America.
Four days after the rape, Maryland’s House of Delegates passed legislation to join states like California in becoming a “sanctuary state,” affording illegal criminal aliens additional protections and making it more difficult to deport them or ask about immigration status.
Allman said Martha MacCallum and other journalists have rightfully shone a light on the crime, and the problems surrounding illegal immigration.
"As all of us parents have found out more details... we've all been absolutely shocked," she said.
She said officials in Montgomery County and at the state and federal level must get to the bottom of how the two older persons were able to attend a ninth grade class with much younger students.
Allman praised Gov. Larry Hogan (R-Md.) for using terms like "illegal immigrants" and for asking why these "men" were in school with "children."
Hogan's response, she said, was better than the "washed-down language we heard from the last administration."
If public resources were freed-up by "moving out" illegal immigrants, the funds could be better spent on her son's education, Allman said.
Hogan said Tuesday that the public "has a right to know how something this tragic and unacceptable was allowed to transpire in a public school."
