Funny, now "they" are trying to claim that Brilacidin will be unimportant because some scientists in India have developed an anti-MRSA compound that seems to work on mice. So they claim Brilacidin will be unimportant because in 5 or 6 years when the Indian scientists get to clinical trials, and their stuff may or may not work in humans, the many applications of Brilacidin will be valueless.
This is beyond stupid.
Also: it is good for the world, and every person reading this board, if there WERE multiple antibiotics. Different antibiotics are used for different purposes, and some people have allergies to things that are fine for other people. We need to have several new classes of antibiotics. It is unfortunate that Brilacidin is the first new class of antibiotics since 1987 -- it would be lots better for all of us, and all of humanity, if there were other new classes of antibiotics in development.
