Krauthammer on Court Blocking 2nd Travel Ban: 'This Has Become a Sideshow'
Charles Krauthammer responded to breaking news Wednesday night that President Trump's second executive travel ban was blocked by a Hawaiian judge.
"This has become a sideshow," Krauthammer said of the ban. "This is not going to affect anything."
Late Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson of Honolulu ruled that the "enforcement of these provisions in all places... is prohibited pending further orders from the court."
"Had we had the first ban, it wouldn't have had any effect anyway," Krauthammer said.
He said Trump signed the ban because of the threat of "hordes" of possible terrorists coming to America.
"We've had a month of this. These hordes have not come. The throats have not been slit. You never had to have the ban in the first place," he said.
Krauthammer said Trump should focus on tightening vetting procedures with or with out a formal ban on entry to the United States.
Judge Watson said that Trump's executive order was likely "issued with a purpose to disfavor a particular religion, in spite of its stated, religiously-neutral purpose."
