No financial interest..but curiosity and fascination with the story. I'm sure I'm not alone in that. John Bordynuik, who was previously selling tape drives on Ebay, was able to get $80,000 from friends and family to buy controlling interest in a shell stock and said he found a secret catalyst which allowed him to turn garbage into crude oil at under $10/bbl and said he fully tested it to prove the concept. Somehow he was able to get people to invest tens of millions of dollars. The processor supposedly spit out dollars by the boatload. It's a story which is so absurd that people think it sounds too fake to actually be fake so they believe the story.
After that, it became slapstick comedy for the next eight years as excuse after excuse, and often no excuse at all, prevented him from running that gold mine of a machine. Nobody wants to buy one, PTOI doesn't want to run it, nobody wants to do a joint venture...not even Mr. Bordynuik cooking the books was a red flag to investors.
...and the message boards bring a new facet. PTOI short are supposedly running scared, unable to cover because longs aren't selling and the longs who testify that PTOI has a revolutionary technology and that the stock is super cheap...simply don't want to buy any more of the stock at higher than a few cents.
When I first ran across PTOI, it took me half an hour to see the economics were impossible and that PTOI was scamming people. Of course that fell on deaf ears...now the remaining investors are lashing out at me as if I'm to blame for their losses.
In short, the slapstick comedy keeps people with no financial interest watching PTOI. Likewise, investors who believe in PTOI aren't deriving any financial benefit from the message boards either...so why are investors here?? Why is anyone here??...simply to talk about a situation which is interesting regardless of belief.
