Water article: As time goes on more and more medical research is there to inform us of the harmful side effects of many substances and materials that we never suspected. After using Styrofoam for takeout containers and disposable cups for years, we are now just learning that these materials contain carcinogens that leads to cancer.

Another material that is recently causing quite a stir is fluoride. The substance is a compound of fluorine and it’s found it typically contains salt which is added to water supplies. In the dental world, the substance is added to toothpaste in order to prevent tooth decay. It is usually found in public water products.

Over time, health professionals have discovered just how detrimental fluoride is for our health, causing harm to the human nervous system. And much to our surprise, it actually decreases our dental health instead of providing benefits.

The best way to ensure that you stay away from the dangerous substance is by checking the label of bottled water that you’ve purchased. If the label shows no signs of fluoride beverages then it is safe to drink. If you read a label that alludes to any signs of the beverage containing fluoride, then put it back on the shelf or toss it in the trash.

One of the biggest side effects of fluoride exposure is known as fluorosis, which leads to full teeth decay and malformation. Fluorosis typically develops in the first eight years of a child’s life and the symptoms include yellowing of the teeth, decay, cavities and distortion of the tooth’s development.

Taking this a step further, other symptoms such as cognitive and IQ issues can also be the result of exposure to fluoride. Brain disorders and body toxicity are also on the list of scary health side effects that may occur in children.

One study that was conducted in China involved testing children who were exposed to fluoride on a daily basis versus those who were not exposed as much. The end result was that the children who were heavily exposed had lower IQ results compared to the others.

Philippe Grandjean, who is a well-known author and researcher, made the following conclusion regarding the dangers of fluoride:

“Fluoride seems to fit in with lead, mercury, and other poisons that cause chemical brain drain. The effect of each toxicant may seem small, but the combined damage on a population scale can be serious, especially because the brain power of the next generation is crucial to all of us.”

To ensure that we make the proper choice when selecting a bottled water brand, it is advised that you avoid the following water bottle brands…

Alhambra, Sierra Springs, Sparkletts, Arrowhead, Mount Olympus, Belmont Springs, Poland Spring, Crystal Rock, Crystal Springs, Shenandoah, Deer Park, Diamond Springs, Nursery Water, Hindley Spri, Ice Mountain, Kandiyohi, Puritan Springs, Kentwood Springs, Mayer Bros., Ozarka, Pure Flo, Zephyrhills.

And some safe bets for water bottle brands that don’t contain fluoride are: Aquafina, Crystal Point, Dannon, Deja Blue, Evian, Fresh Market, Great Value, Smart Water, Summit Mountains and Summit Springs.
