The more I think about it, the more I believe that the Great PR Fuck-Up of 2017 was an institutional screw-up. PR is its own department; marketing is a separate one. My hunch is that someone in the marketing silo posted that "huge announcement" notice on their FB (marketing) page without giving thought to how it might land to the investment community. The person was focused on boosting short-term sales and wearing marketing blinders.
Whereupon the shit hit the fan; someone in PR came along hollering; the word "huge" was replaced with "surprise." And some real damage was done.
Fuck-ups come in a billion forms. This was one of them.
As per Adirondack, it won't have long-term impacts. The future is no less bright than it was before.
