WESTCHESTER, Ill., March 6, 2017 - Ingredion Incorporated (NYSE: INGR), a leading global provider of ingredient solutions to diversified industries, announced today that Ilene Gordon, chairman, president and CEO, has joined the U.S. chapter of the 30% Club, a group of business leaders committed to better gender balance on corporate boards and at all levels of their organizations.
A pioneer of board gender diversity, Gordon was the first female director of five different public companies. "I'm an advocate for board diversity. Directors with diverse backgrounds and experiences provide a wide range of perspectives, which helps drive a company to increase shareholder value.
"Ingredion has one of the most diverse boards among U.S. public companies: out of 10 directors four are female, two are Latino and one is an African American male. My hope is to inspire more companies to diversify their boards," Gordon said.
The U.S. 30% Club strives to improve gender diversity through the leadership of its members, advocacy and education, and initiatives focused on preparing qualified female candidates for board positions.
The U.S. chapter, founded by Bloomberg Chairman Peter Grauer, launched in June 2014 with a goal of achieving 30% female directors on S&P 100 boards by 2020. Its membership is comprised of over 65 executive leaders from companies including The Coca-Cola Company, Xerox, Berkshire Hathaway, Bank of America, Facebook and more.
