I don't think K can cross the BBB on its own because it's water-soluble. Water-soluble substances such as penicillin can't cross the BBB. It's possible that U of B figured out a way to use transport proteins to help K crosses the BBB, similar to the way Glucose is transported by GLUT-1.
Hopefully Leo will share the preclinical data presented at future conferences. I'm really curious about how K crosses the BBB.

Does anyone know if K crosses the Blood Brain Barrier?
