FL Gov.: Trump Understands 'Local Government Works
Post# of 51522

Governor Rick Scott (R-Fla.) said Monday on "The First 100 Days" that he had a fruitful meeting with President Trump and some of his cabinet members regarding the effects that the president's health care plans will have on Florida .
"The president understands that ... local government works better," Scott said. "Governors know, for their states, what their needs are for health care - if you give us our authority."
Scott said he is confident Trump will listen to him and his fellow governors, and deregulate some of the federal involvement in health care, so that independent decisions can be made from Tallahassee rather than Washington.
"I can be way more efficient with health care dollars ... than the federal government can," he said.
Scott added that he would rather see the states become "50 laboratories" for independent policy-making, noting that he met with Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao and Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos for similar discussions on issues under their purview.
