You truly can't have it both ways. If you concede he is correct, then the rest of your sentence is invalidated. He is arguing that your emphasis, the Administration's emphasis, is misplaced.

I'm not certain where your difficulty in telling fact from opinion is coming from. Opinion is confined to that section in the newspapers.

Reportage is concerned with who, what, when, where and, where discernible, why. Some reporting is more professional than other reporting, but the same variance in quality may be said to be evident in any profession.
