I just spent 3 weeks in WA and had my first field sobriety test given by a statey, because he asked and I didn't want any BS. Trust me, it's tougher and more discerning than anything they could give them as a tool that I could imagine. After 3 or 4 other tests, I had to hold one foot off the ground in front of the other, tip my head back and count silently to thirty seconds, not to 30 while he timed it with his watch. After that, he said I currently hold his record and said I was good to go. I finished and told him as his watch turned 31.
