Eurolaf announces $ 32 million in 2 new factories
Company dedicated to transformations will take market left by Rontan
The Eurolaf Special Vehicles announced an investment of R $ 32 million in two new plants , one in Sorocaba and another in Betim (Minas Gerais). In all, 270 direct jobs will be generated. "The intention is to inaugurate them until the end of the first semester," says the company's commercial and marketing director, Humberto Breves. Police vehicles, firefighters and ambulances are among the company's specialties.
The high stakes in an economic period as bad as the current one has reason: "We want to occupy the space left by a big company stopped acting in the sector," says Breves, referring to Rontan, whose production would have been interrupted for more than six months , According to the Metalworkers' Union of Tatuí (SP), the city where it operated.
"The choice for Sorocaba was due to proximity to Tatuí and the availability of skilled labor," says the executive. The unit in the interior of São Paulo will receive R $ 17 million, will have 7 thousand meters of constructed area, patio with about 2 thousand m², 150 employees and capacity to prepare 800 cars per month in a shift.
"We are going to work with all the automakers, but I believe that the biggest volume in the first moment is of Chevrolet cars," estimates Breves, since civil and military police are big customers of the automaker.
"The Betim factory is strategic because of the geographical position. In addition to Fiat, Iveco and Jeep, we can also serve Mitsubishi, Catalan. The unit will receive R $ 15 million, will have a constructed area of ??5 thousand square meters and 14 thousand square meters of patio. "The capacity will be 600 to 650 transformations per month."
Eurolaf operates in São José dos Pinhais (PR) and has Renault as a major customer. The unit of Paraná has 10 thousand m² of constructed area, 30 thousand square meters of patio and employs 180 employees. In 2016 it adapted around 2.5 thousand vehicles. "The goal this year is to reach 6,000 units. We already have a thousand vehicles in our portfolio. Production starts in March and deliveries will take place through May, "says the company's director.
In addition to ambulances, police vehicles and fire brigades, the company also handles cargo vehicles, executive transportation, school and people with special needs. In Sorocaba the company will also have Eurosignal, a division of flags that will serve to supply the demand itself and also supply the market. Eurolaf is considering re-armoring, an area where it ceased operations in 2009.
