This was a stupid comment by Travis Snider who is no longer with SIRG. The "dust" problems that some residents of Chloride complained about at the public meeting in Chloride were likely from Mercator's Mineral Park mine (2 1/2 m east of the SIRG mine) that had been blasting and operating without permits for over 3 yrs. SIRG cannot take any actions until BLM issues the required permits as they will not violate the laws like Hondo and Mercator did! SIRG stated that they will address any dust problems from the tailing pile. However, that pile has been there since 1996 and is crusted over with some plant growth making it unlikely it is the source of the dust reaching Chloride.
Blasting at the Mineral Park mine on May 25, 2012! SIRG should demand that BLM present DNA samples of the dust in Chloride to identify the source!
