Post# of 301275
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Feb. 17, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cerner, a global leader in health care technology, will highlight a range of client value-focused delivery services in Booth 2161 at HIMSS17, Feb. 19–23, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
Among the models to be featured is Cerner’s Value Creation Office (VCO). With VCO, a team of embedded Cerner associates relocates to the client’s region to build a deep understanding of the organization and its community. Through joint VCO governance, Cerner and the provider identify organizational improvement opportunities and build business cases for investments to achieve improvement.
“Cerner is on the journey from fee- to value-based care with our clients,” said John Glaser, senior vice president, Cerner. “VCO is about optimizing Cerner’s solutions for performance excellence and more tightly aligning Cerner with our clients.”
Cerner has more than five clients with existing VCO agreements. As improvements are achieved and value is created, Cerner and the client share the financial benefits. Cerner has had success in areas ranging from coding, infection control and sepsis management to population health.
As a result of the VCO model, Davenport, Iowa-based Genesis Health System, for instance, saved more than $710,000 in the first half of 2016 from reductions in the average daily cost of antimicrobials per patient, in the length of stay for patients on antimicrobial drugs, reducing in-hospital-acquired infections and better formulary management.
“I’ve seen more positive changes in the last year than I have in the past five years combined,” said Kevin Cahill, director of pharmacy at Genesis Medical Center. “Cerner is clearly part of our organization.”
Cerner will also feature its analytics as a service and care management as a service offerings, which build on Cerner’s cloud-based HealtheIntentSM population health management platform solutions. This suite of services was developed to complement existing resources for clients with limited technical proficiency or challenges with scalability and geographic availability of talent.
“Value-creation, centralized analytics and coordinated care management are central components to any organization’s holistic strategy to effectively navigate and succeed in the coming era of value-based reimbursement,” Glaser said. “Cerner’s suite of delivery services brings together proven people, processes and technology to create a collaborative, systematic approach toward achieving meaningful outcomes.”
