I Inherited a Mess': Trump Holds Press Conference, Blasts Media Dishonesty
President Donald Trump held a press conference today at the White House.
He began by blasting the media for its "dishonesty" and lamenting the "mess" that he inherited from President Barack Obama both at home and abroad.
The president said many people, including in the media, are unhappy because he's implementing his agenda and following through on the promises he made to the American people.
"This administration is running like a fine-tuned machine," he said, dismissing recent reports of a White House in "chaos."
The president called the country "drug-infested" and vowed to put a stop to it.
"We're becoming a drug-infested nation. Drugs are becoming cheaper than candy bars. We're not going to let it happen any longer," he said.
Trump said the administration is making a nationwide effort to go after criminal illegal immigrants, gang members and drug dealers.
"Our administration is working night and day to keep you safe, including reporters," said Trump.
Reporters then asked repeatedly about the recent reports about the Trump campaign's communications with Russian officials and Michael Flynn's resignation as National Security Adviser.
Trump said Flynn did nothing wrong when he spoke to the Russian ambassador by phone about sanctions imposed by the Obama administration.
"I own nothing in Russia. I have no loans in Russia. I don't have any deals in Russia," he said.
Trump said the New York Times report about his campaign's contacts with Russian officials was a "joke" and claimed that it has been "very much discredited."
He then blasted today's Wall Street Journal report as "almost as disgraceful as the failing New York Times." The report stated that the U.S. intelligence community is holding back information from the White House, fearing it could be compromised.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence has since said the report is "not true."
Trump later took several questions from CNN's Jim Acosta, whom he refused to answer questions from at a news conference last month
