Finnish primary school students play beta testers for Neste's new environmental education game
Just months prior to the launch of Neste's carbon cycle exploring environmental education game, EduCycle , the platform was put to the test when a class of 6th graders from Espoo International School got to play the game.
The experience, where participants got to test the game's limits, was a resounding success as the children mastered the gaming logic like true professionals.
"Everybody wanted to be part of the action. It didn't feel like school and that's why we learned more than we normally would", the children said.
Neste, the world's leading producer of renewable diesel, will release their educational interactive board game in the spring. The augmented reality gaming platform aims to help children understand the impact of human actions upon the environment and the carbon cycle.
The game was presented to the children by Neste's President & CEO Matti Lievonen and the EVP of Renewable Products Kaisa Hietala. They were excited to see the game in action and received a large amount of positive feedback from the testers.
"We were glad to see how environmentally conscious the children actually are. As EduCycle's message is delivered through digital gaming, the children feel at ease when playing and learning. We really feel that interactive education could benefit schooling in the future. After all, children are the decision makers of tomorrow," Lievonen said.
EduCycle's prototyping commenced last autumn after the future of education was chosen as the best of five themes from Neste's Pre-order the Future project. The other themes included entertainment, digital services, public space, and travel. Pre-order the Future is a long-term project that explores the use of renewable materials as part of Neste's contribution to a cleaner future and a better tomorrow for our planet.
