I love how those not of the age to know WTF was going on during the draft era so easily make judgments.
By '68-'69 it was clear to most that we were stuck in a quagmire to no useful end.
So, you had your chicken-hawks who bellowed about nuking N. Vietnam or blowing up the dikes and drowning 2M of them, while avoiding the draft much less volunteering.
And you had a shit load of people like Clinton, who opposed the war, and did their best to avoid serving.
You had a few patricians like Kerry who felt obligated to show up and you had guys like Dubya who had strings pulled to move him to the front of the Air National Guard waiting list.
The worst? Those who thump their chests about who and how to fight, but avoid putting their skin in the game. Like Cheney.
