PriceSmart Announces January Sales

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - Feb 7, 2017) - PriceSmart, Inc. (NASDAQ: PSMT) today announced that for the month of January 2017, net sales increased 1.3% to $229.4 million from $226.4 million in January a year earlier. For the five months ended January 31, 2017, net sales increased 3.0% to $1,273.7 million from $1,236.3 million in the same period last year. There were 39 warehouse clubs in operation at the end of January 2017 compared to 38 warehouse clubs in operation in January 2016.

For the four weeks ended January 29, 2017, comparable warehouse sales for the 38 warehouse clubs open at least 13 1/2 full months increased 0.2% compared to the same four-week period last year. For the twenty-one-week period ended January 29, 2017, comparable warehouse sales increased 0.7% compared to the comparable twenty-one-week period a year ago.
