The speaker of the United Kingdom's House of Commons said President Trump should not be allowed to deliver a speech before Parliament when he comes to the country for a state visit.
Speaker John Bercow said he is "even more strongly opposed" to Trump addressing the British version of the Congress during his yet-to-be-determined visit with Prime Minister Theresa May.
"I feel very strongly that our opposition to racism and sexism and our support of equality before the law and an independent judiciary are hugely important considerations in the House of Commons," he said.
May has also criticized Trump's executive order that barred immigrants from several countries, but said during a joint press conference in the United States that the countries' "special relationship" allows each leader to respectfully disagree with the other.
Bercow said he deferred to May as to whether Trump should visit Great Britain but said he would not issue the president an invitation to speak in the Royal Gallery.
Trump would likely need agreement between Bercow, House of Lords Speaker Norman Fowler and the Lord Great Chamberlain of England David Cholmondeley in order to appear in Westminster Hall.
