PRINCETON, N.J., Feb. 06, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Red Filter Gallery will feature an exclusive online exhibition of nautical, fine art photography by artist Richard Sherman, owner of TousJour Photography. The exhibit, “Above the Black Sea,” is a series of 10 masterfully captured black and white photographs taken over five years across Maine, Florida, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Rhode Island and Antigua. All gallery pieces were hand-selected by the artist.
Red Filter Gallery is a non-profit, virtual exhibition space for emerging fine art photographers focused on monochromatic imagery. From a pool of roughly 50 applicants each month, one emerging artist is selected for a feature in the gallery.
"I was intrigued by Richard's photos because despite being abstract within the landscape, they all relate to an activity taking place in nature,” said Forrest Old, founder of the Red Filter Gallery. “Many of his photographs draw the viewer into the scene, allowing them to imagine an even greater, unseen image. Each image evokes the larger picture of man and nature,” he added.
Taking a non-traditional path to professional photography, Sherman was a U.S. Navy officer during the first Gulf War. After pursuing a successful career on Wall Street, he chose to pursue his passion for photography, abandoning the corporate grind to photograph his two favorite subjects: nature and boats. A sampling of Sherman’s photography can be viewed at www.RichardShermanPhotography.com .
