Texas' lieutenant governor fired back at Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who told CNN earlier this week that President Trump's planned border wall is not a "viable option" for border security.
"If you're going to build a wall without using technology, individuals and drones... you're not going to secure the border," McCain said
He's wrong," Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick responded on "Fox & Friends", "John McCain has not apparently read "The Art of the Deal"," he added, referring to Trump's 1987 best-seller.
Patrick said there have been 147,000 arrests for 447,000 crimes in the Texas border region over a four-year period, maintaining that a physical barrier will greatly curb that outbreak.
"It's so good to have a friend in the White House," he said.
Patrick said that walling off the border near the 19 major crossings along the 1200 miles of international boundary in Texas would help authorities greatly because it would force illegal immigrants and coyotes to detour into sparsely populated borderlands where enforcement officials can better detect them.
Addressing McCain again, Patrick said Arizona too would benefit from a border wall.
