Add to that (total speculation) DF spent 18 months with lots of time to dream, think, and create new hardware and software. Anybody tracking any patent applications from him or affiliated businesses lately? Creating inovative technology is in his wheelhouse, I'm sure he did more than his assigned job while away. Just speculating.
