We all know that Connie has a huge conflict of interest being a board member while also being Baltia's supplier for aircraft. So ask yourself - why would he join the board of directors if he planned to resign?
His approach was basically this: advise, support, resign. He's the American success story we all want for ourselves, and advising Tony as a board member was an avenue for him to help the company find an aircraft to lease. But he's not an idiot. He will profit from us leasing a plane from him, don't think for one second that a business magnate like Kalitta is in this just for the satisfaction of expediting Baltia's success. His company will thrive just as much as Baltia once the certification is received. It's a win-win.
This highlights Tony's genius by bringing Kalitta into the company to be an advisor and expert who - as we can clearly see from the quality of the PRs and Tony's aggressive attitude toward making this company successful - has undoubtedly saved Baltia from failure. Kalitta's presence as an advisor was invaluable, and when you're worth what he's worth, it's all about reputation. He wants to see Baltia succeed because he has devoted years to helping the company, and now we're at the finish line of certification.
Kalitta doesn't need to be on the BoD anymore. Tony knows the right path to take, and additional BoDs will likely be finance and business experts that can help Tony with the marketing and branding expertise that will really make Baltia a prosperous business.
