"Kate's Law" back on the table with Reid gone.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) told Bill O'Reilly that there is a good chance of "Kate's Law" arriving on President Trump's desk in the near future.

The bill, which calls for a five-year mandatory minimum prison sentence for aggravated felons who are illegal immigrants, was drafted in response to the murder of Kathryn Steinle, a California woman shot while walking on a pier with her father.

"Today's orders [relating to illegal immigration] are an example of strong leadership by President Trump," Cruz said.

Bill O'Reilly pointed out that the law's staunchest opponent, Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.), retired in 2016, which helped open the door for its possible passage.

King said the last iteration of the bill passed the House 241-179, and Cruz said there are about ten Democratic senators up for reelection in 2018 from states where Trump won in 2016.

Some of those legislators include Sens. Robert Casey Jr. (D-Pa.), Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and Joe Manchin III (D-W.V.)

"Jim and Liz Steinle deserve [the law's implementation]," King said
