Rocky Mountain High Brands to Increase Additional Acreage to Cultivate Industrial Hemp Crops
DALLAS, Oct. 19, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Rocky Mountain High Brands, Inc. (RMHB), a fully reporting consumer goods company specializing in brand development of health conscious, hemp-infused food and beverage products and high alkaline water, through its subsidiary, Rocky Mountain High Water Company, LLC., announced today that it has entered into a Letter of Intent for long-term use of two additional parcels of land totaling eighty acres from the Poafbybitty Family of the Comanche Tribe with the intention of cultivating an industrial hemp crop.
This new venture is in addition to the current business alliance that has already set aside a 157-acre parcel of the Comanche family land to grow and produce industrial hemp. The Company is investigating the feasibility of a water bottling plant, with an adjacent industrial hemp processing plant. Possible uses of an industrial hemp processing plant are production of hemp seed extract, CBD extract, as well as any of the other possible 25,000 products produced from hemp.
Hemp is a durable natural fiber that is grown as a renewable source for raw materials that can be incorporated into thousands of products. It is one of the oldest domesticated crops known to man. Hemp is used as a nutritional food product for humans and pets, building materials, paper, textiles, cordage, organic body care, along with thousands of other known uses. An industrial hemp crop requires half the water that wheat uses and can be grown without the heavy use of pesticides.
Farmers worldwide grow hemp industrially for fiber, seed, and oil for use in a variety of industrial and consumer products. The United States is the only developed nation that fails to cultivate industrial hemp as an economic crop on a large scale, according to the Congressional Resource Service. However, with rapidly changing laws and more States gravitating towards industrial hemp and passing an industrial hemp bill, that could change. Currently, the majority of industrial hemp sold in the United States is imported from China and Canada, the world’s largest exporters of the industrial hemp crop. Now American farmers are promised a new cash crop with an annual value of several hundred million dollars.
Michael Welch, President and CEO of Rocky Mountain High Brands, said, “As a manufacturer of hemp-based products, we are excited to have the opportunity to become self-sufficient for our hemp needs. The acreage provided by the business alliance with the Poafbybitty Family, with easy accesses to plentiful water supply from the adjacent Chandler Creek, make this a premium farming opportunity. Growing industrial hemp is a part of our strategic business model and this will make us a cutting-edge leader of the hemp products market. Our vision for the Company is to create a new market segment focused on hemp and CBD infused food and beverage products in which the Rocky Mountain High Brands will be recognized as both a pioneer and the market leader. This opportunity is certainly in alignment with our vision.”
