America is still pretty tribal or clannish even though it isn't a socially accepted concept by liberals.
Liberals what disconnected disassoiated people that can be told what to think and munipulated. So in a sense you have a clan... Survival become more important than education then when you are told by your leader someone is going to change your way of life...you will fight.
Lefty doesn't want to lead his people out of the wilderness. It would mean sharing an a question to his power.
