Brunell Donald-Kyei, former vice-chair of Diversity Outreach at the National Diversity Coalition for Trump, says it's a "travesty" that congressional Democrats are planning to skip President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony Friday.
On "Your World" today, Donald-Kyei said she is praying that Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) and at least 30 other Democrats will change their minds and do what's best for America.
"You have to get out of your emotions and do it for the nation," Donald-Kyei said. "You don't have to like the authority figure, but respect is something that is a given for our 45th president ... They should be supporting the smooth transition of power on Friday, January 20th."
She said that the nation has been divided for too long, and it's time for Americans to come together.
She added that today, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, is a perfect time to put aside our differences and embrace "peace, love and togetherness."
"Let the bitterness go. Let forgiveness reign. Let's celebrate our new president, our next president, because whether they like it or not, he's the next president."
