CHICAGO, Jan. 10, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- VelocityEHS , the leading cloud environment, health, safety (EHS) and sustainability software provider, is reminding safety professionals that the annual OSHA Recordkeeping Standard deadline for posting a summary of serious injuries and illnesses in their facilities during 2016 is approaching fast. The summary must remain posted in a facility location clearly visible to employees and new applicants between February 1 and April 30. The Recordkeeping Standard has undergone a number of critical changes in the last year, and employers unfamiliar with the updates are encouraged to attend the VelocityEHS webinar, “What's New with OSHA's Recordkeeping Standard: Are You Ready? ” on January 12, 2017.
Changes going into effect this year include the need for all non-exempt employers to electronically submit recorded injury and illness data annually to the agency – with the first reporting deadline for certain employers to take place July 1, 2017. Unchanged are the requirements that employers with ten or more employees maintain records of serious work-related injuries and illnesses using OSHA Forms 300, 301 and 300A; that records be maintained at the worksite for at least five years; and that copies be provided to current and former employees, or their representatives, upon request.
