Where, if anywhere, in the Qur'an does it say that non-believers must be killed? In what context?

I have finished reading the Quran and it is a wonderful narrative, same as the Bible. But nowhere do I see the duty to kill non-believers. Can someone tell me, chapter and verse, where the Quran demands by God the killing of non-believers...men, women or children?

First I must say, THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHAT ISLAM SAYS AND WHAT ISLAMIC GOVERNMENTS OR MUSLIMS HAVE DONE (DO). This question is about Islam, so the mistakes made by Muslims and Muslim governments don’t count as the ISLAMIC RULING.

The Quran, according to Shiite beliefs, needs interpretation and explanation by those who know what it means for sure and those are “THE PROPHET” and 13 other “PURE SOULS” or “IMAMS and FATIMA” (prophet’s daughter), so if we want to know what Islam’s ruling is about any subject and issue, we should refer to them as our reference, not our own incomplete and most of the time wrong and unbalanced understanding of Islam, the Quran and Islamic rulings. So we are talking about the QURAN FROM IMAM’S PERSPECTIVE.

The Quran doesn’t say that non-believers must be killed, you haven’t found it because it doesn’t exist and the reason for that is “Islam neither preaches nor allows killing non-believers”. Islam is all about HELPING people see the truth and choose the right path, NOT MAKING them and certainly NOT KILLING them.

There are some verses in the Quran and Islamic narrations that talk about killing as punishment or as a defensive move but aggression and killing others because of what they believe or don’t believe is definitely NOT ISLAMIC and quite frankly it’s what ISIS and its creators and supporters do .

If you want to know specifics, invading Muslim countries and starting a war with them, killing someone and raping someone are among causes which would cause a death penalty (IF the victim wants it), but in no way Islam would allow a Muslim to kill another human being for what he/she believes in, that’s just NOT TRUE
