As you undoubtedly already know, market makers are legally entitled to short with lose requirements to cover in the normal course of doing the business of market making. They are more than likely also involved is filling the large sell order needs of Aspire as they prepare to make the next purchase or Aruda for purposes of such things as diversification or what ever his personal reasons are for cutting his large out sized position. I speculate that a large amount of the short sales reported by finra are market makers accruing a short position in order to fill the selling requirement of large customers like the ones just mentioned. This would not imply any view of the future stock price, but rather a reflection of their job in filling orders and knowledge of such orders. This is just my casual observation, I have no knowledge of how MM's actually conduct business outside of a conceptual level. But IMO the short sale ratio has not been of predictive value to me in the past with this and other stocks.
An easy way to follow it is on shortvolume.com if anyone is interested.
