Inovalon Announces Charitable Giving for 2016

BOWIE, Md., Jan. 05, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Inovalon (Nasdaq: INOV ), a leading technology company providing advanced, cloud-based platforms empowering a data-driven transformation from volume-based to value-based models across the healthcare ecosystem, today announced the names of organizations that benefitted from its charitable contributions in 2016, which include both local and national charities.

Inovalon is committed to corporate philanthropy programs and takes great pride in its support of programs that focus on the advancement of research and treatment for the nation’s most troubling diseases, the development of youth through wellness and arts programs, and the provision of shelter and care for those in need. Inovalon continued this initiative in 2016 with the support of 33 worthy causes throughout the year.

In 2016, Inovalon donated both through direct funding and through thousands of volunteer hours of its employees to these and other organizations:

  • A Bigger Picture, Inc.: Provides young girls in the Washington, D.C., metro area with guidance to reach their personal goals through opportunities that build self-confidence, character and leadership skills.  
  • American Diabetes Association (ADA), National Capital Area: Hosted a community festival/fundraiser event “Game On, Greater Washington” to support the ADA’s mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by the disease.  
  • American Heart Association, Go Red for Women, Pittsburgh: Annual luncheon to raise funds for improving heart health for women.  
  • Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation: Provides healthcare for persons in the Anne Arundel County community who are otherwise unable to afford the necessary care.  
  • Blessings in a Backpack: Provides weekend meals for children in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area, who otherwise may not eat until they return to school on Mondays.  
  • Boy Scouts of America, Baltimore Area Council: Prepares young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.  
  • Bread for the City: Provides Washington, D.C., residents with supplies and comprehensive services, including food, clothing, medical care, and legal and social services.   
  • Community Foundation of Greater Flint: Supports the Flint Child Health & Development Fund, following the Flint, Michigan, water crisis.  
  • Creating Communities: Offers arts-based, alternative education opportunities in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Provides arts instruction, mentoring and experiential learning to increase workforce skills, artistic skills, life skills, academic competences and community service.  
  • Ele’s Place: Creates awareness and supports grieving children and their families within Lansing and Ann Arbor, Michigan.  
  • Empty Bowls: Promotes education of hunger issues and helps with hunger relief in Loudoun County, Virginia.  
  • Gateway Youth Services: Offers shelter, support and supplies for runaway and homeless youth in Lansing, Michigan.  
  • Geisinger Health System Foundation: Committed to medical education, research & community service, and widely recognized for its innovative use of electronic health records and the development of innovative care delivery models.  
  • Healthcare for the Homeless: Provides affordable, quality, integrated healthcare to Baltimore-area homeless individuals and families through direct service, advocacy and community engagement.
  • Independent Health Foundation: Offers free programs to those living in the Buffalo area who struggle to make health their top priority.
  • Kids’ Food Basket: Empowers communities to attack childhood hunger so that young people can learn and live well and offers weeknight Sack Suppers to kids in Grand Rapids, Michigan, communities.
  • Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Light the Night: This annual event is held to raise funds to support the cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease & myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients & their families.
  • Lighthouse Shelter: Provides food, shelter, and life-changing programs that help clients reclaim hope and independence and rebuild their lives.
